Bot traffic for e-commerce in the age of AI
About the talk
- Who is actually accessing your site? Not just humans anymore. It’s a continuum: real users, search/price scrapers, LLM fetchers, and agentic bots. One representation doesn’t fit all.
- The talk has two parts:
- Pragmatic intro (business view): map traffic classes to value and cost.
- Optimizations (technical deep dive): real-world e-commerce stories using Akamai, AWS, Next.js, and GraphQL, and trade-offs (e.g. when we disabled streaming for AI agents)
- You’ll leave with:
- an understanding of large-scale e-commerce challenges,
- battle-tested website optimization examples,
- a practical, data-driven mental model for decisions.
