Back in the days I was inspired by BarCamp, StartupJam, SiliconValleyComesToBaltics and similar events. Therefore, I was also dreaming about projects "to change the world".
However pet projects and successful product is not the same. While during my free time I was coming back to my old dream, competitors were also evolving.
